On Sunday October 19th, 2025, Mr. Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation and I met in Geneva to explore possibilities to further deepen the dialogue between the State Duma and interested Members of the European Parliament.
On the initiative of Mr. Slutsky, we’ll aim at giving our contact via videoconference a regular frequency, perhaps on a monthly basis.
I suggested to organize a conference in a venue outside the EU, possibly in Türkiye, in order to explore the future European security architecture, ways to avoid an arms race and EU-Russia relations. This suggestion was welcomed by Mr. Slutsky. We also agreed on a further in person meeting in November.
